Rants
Animal Rights
Dear Editor:
I am a very sad man. I weep daily. I weep for mosquitoes. They are killed even without evidence of guilt. They have a right to live here like anyone else. In fact, they were here even before the indigenous peoples and we have invaded their space. I speak up too for pigs (maybe the Moslems have something here), cows (maybe the Hindus have something here), chickens and fish. How barbarous! And that little kitty cat…that some care for so lovingly…to others it is supper. And those dogs…how can people say “yummy.” I plead for rats…they are only potential killers… how can we assume they are guilty and kill them without evidence?

Then what about those tiny plants and animals…who speaks up for bacteria? I say we ban mouthwash…and antibiotics. Those plants and animal are only trying to survive – just as we try to justify our survival by killing them. What gives me the right to kill them! Our convenience is no excuse – all animals have rights. Who gave us the right to determine what animal should get more rights?

I say we should all united and form one great organization that will protect animal and plant life and call in the police. And if you want to discuss it, I now a nice little burger joint where we could meet.

We in the West determine cute…and ignore that cats can carry deadly diseases…but I speak for the not so cute…
